Melissa Osborne – Dell EMC

Melissa Osborne is the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at Dell EMC, A/NZ, with a current focus on emerging technology – such as Digital Cities, Artificial Intelligence, Deep Learning and Augmented Reality. With a background in Cloud Computing and Cyber Security, she works to harness the broad capabilities of the Dell EMC technologies including RSA, VMWare, VirtuStream, Pivotal, and SecureWorks, to deliver tailored solutions to solve complex problems.

Melissa is a security risk and compliance expert, with significant experience implementing risk mitigations and understanding organisational cyber security maturity and related business culture. Melissa was previously the Director of Industry Partnerships at the Australian Cyber Security Centre, for the Australian Signals Directorate (ASD), delivering proactive cyber security advice through her leadership of programs, such as the Information Security Registered Assessors Program (IRAP), the Australasian Information Security Evaluation Program (AISEP) as part of the International Common Criteria Program. Melissa was also the Whole of Government Certification Authority for cloud computing and responsible for the creation of the ASD Certified Cloud Services List (CCSL), as well as providing cyber security advice related to supply chain, threat intelligence sharing, export compliance policy, and data centre security.

Melissa served in the Royal Australian Navy, in an IT-related field, followed by a long career in the Australian Signals Directorate (ASD), all in the Department of Defence. She continues to be passionate about serving Australia and making Australia prosperous through embracing IT innovation and emerging technologies.
